Foundation Design @ Emily Carr
Through lectures, films and in-class participatory exercises and critiques, students will come to understand and develop foundational design literacy skills. A second trajectory will focus on design attitudes and beliefs (insights on personal motivations): who is designing, what are we designing, and what are the implications on the human and other-than-human realms? Presentations and discussions will explore issues of positionality, sustainability, creative capital, design thinking and design activism providing the student with an overview of ethical practices and movements in design.
